Split View, two Channels at once.

I find Split View very useful at the moment for keeping an eye on BBC TV News & Sky News at the same time, two independent windows, with Audio.

(Apple OSX, Firefox example)

Does not have to be News Channels.

I often have News in one window, Papers or other web pages in the other.

Re: Split View, two Channels at once.

Admittedly on my android 9 phone i find it rather useful at times but the way it's all squeezed into half the space can be a bit of a pain.

But watching two videos at once? screw that. I'd find that infuriating.

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: Split View, two Channels at once.

I think David Bowie was way ahead on this. Anybody remember him in The Man Who Fell to Earth

So cool at the time, and one of his first film parts?

Re: Split View, two Channels at once.

Kenny Everett used to describe his programmes as, "In stereo for people with two ears."  Would this be a case of, "For people with two personalities/online IDs"?

Re: Split View, two Channels at once.

Or stereo televison for people with two eyes, but I guess they would need something like these prism glasses that you could could swivel individually left or right to enable one eye to focus on one screen and the other eye on another?

Re: Split View, two Channels at once.

Quite often,.... I ... "multi-task"....

above my laptop screen is a 17" flat screen t.v...

While I am chatting in morse to someone in Brazil, or Australia, or Japan, or the USA... Sweden... France.. or wherever... I can be watching a program/film on the t.v... reading the subtitles...and keying morse back to the person who I am in contact with..

So, the O.P. is doing nothing "unusual" as far as I am concerned.... !

Re: Split View, two Channels at once.

@shutter

But are you really multitasking in the same way as you would be 'multiviewing'?

It reads like you are translating into Morse code what you are seeing on screen which is quite a skill in itself, but not quite the same as viewing and absorbing two seperate moving images. Just trying to imagine two different people talking to me at the same on a different subject and trying to not only understand it, but to transfer that information to somebody else at the some time.

Blimey, I have trouble hearing what one person is telling me, especially if I'm not really interested in what they have to say!

Re: Split View, two Channels at once.

@Minivanman  YES... I AM   multi- tasking....

I am watching a program/film on t.v.   reading the subtitles, ( as you know i am hard of hearing ) ... and at the same time I can be  chatting via my morse key, ( I can hear the morse with no problem, and it is decoded on screen as well) ...  about anything that crops up...helping new users with the settings for the morse program....or ham radio subjects, or personal history,... time in the navy, or weather, or whatever...etc

Absolutely NOT transmitting what I see on the telly...

Multi Tasking:

I also have a TV adjacent to my computer, plus a CCTV monitor in the room !

Though the TV is off most of the time.

In the event of a possible power outage, it's all down to a portable Radio !

Re: Split View, two Channels at once.

It never ceases to amaze what some people get up (to) whilst watching the tv at the same time, but not me of course, and certainly not at my age. 😉

Re: Split View, two Channels at once.

Nothing wrong with a bit of the old gogglebox.

Decent movie or a rugby match - even partial to the odd docmentary and then it's feet up lovely jubbly.  Cannot stand soaps, those reality or games shows.... apart from Pointless. 😋
