Spam calls

Well 2 today a new record  Wink
First one was pre-recorded message, wouldn't let me hang up so I went downstairs and pressed the CPR button on it.
Second was just now :-
"I am calling from British Telecom about your internet connection" really? "You have raised a fault" nope "and we need your IP address"  you should have it, so at that point I pressed the button on him.  From an 0800 number

Re: Spam calls

Considering that British Telecom officially changed their name to BT (as to differentiate the private business from the former nationalised, former part of the GPO entity) over 20 years ago, that would set alarm bells ringing right there... Grin

Re: Spam calls

I've installed my BT8500 today and have been blissfully call free - I can see it's stopped a couple of calls already.

Re: Spam calls

My call blocker blocks 99% of of them, as I said 2 in a day is very unusual. Don't normally see any.

"and we need your IP address"

SWMBO had one of those, I heard her tapping on the keyboard and reading out an IP address (195.99.147.120)
"That's not our IP address" I prompted.
No she said it isn't.................."They won't be bothering anybody for a while" it's one of the GCHQ servers.
