Re: Sonic Boom

Colleagues at work this morning that live in the East Coventry/Rugby area are saying that they heard and felt the boom last night. Apparently loud enough for them to think either their house or a neighbour’s had been hit by a car or lorry; quite a few went out to investigate

Re: Sonic Boom

The Gatwick closure was due to a hot air balloon in the flight path.  Does anyone know where James May is at the moment?

Anything for the Typhoon bunch to justify their keep and prove getting shot of our harriers was a good thing eh?

The magic word is "Supersonic". The old flying bedsteads might have got there too late.

Re: Sonic Boom

Rubbish! There were supersonic harriers too you know! Ok, still not quite as fast but some of them could break the sound barrier.

" two jet fighters were scrambled to go to the aid of a helicopter "
erm.... how on earth (or in the air) can jet fighters help a helicopter?  I mean they aint the same thing as Lifeboats to ships in distress are they  Cheesy

Re: Sonic Boom

The alert was on the "I have been hijacked frequency" I believe hence the ultimate action would have been to shoot it down if it was a threat buildings etc.
