Re: Songs that make you cringe

Given enough time I could think of quite a few...
These were quite popular, but did nothing for me at all:
Demis Roussos (the singing kaftan) "She"
Benny Hill "He drove the fastest milk cart in the west"
Sonny and Cher "I got you Babe"
I don't know who did it "The Startrek song"
The daftest lyrics must have "McArthur Park" as a contender. "someone left the cake out in the rain" I ask you!!
Although I quite like it "Bye bye miss American Pie" needs a glossary to go with it (shussh, don't tell anybody but actually prefer the Madona version)
About the time of Sonny and Cher there was another male/female duet (not Nino Temple and April Stevens) but I can't remember their name had a hit with worst rendition of its kind.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Doubtful - Esther & Abi were contemporaries of Sonny & Cher in the sixties, But R & R were big in the eighties.

Re: Songs that make you cringe

Having taken the rare step and actually viewed a posted link, I can definitely confirm it is Esther & Abi Ofarim that were the subject of my less than complementary assessment.

Just to prove I do post the occasional link (but not without an explanation of what its about <hint!>)
For those who might be remotely interested here a summary of the meaning of the lyrics to Don McClain's "Bye Bye Miss American Pie"

Not particularly easy to read due to the unfortunate choice of background and font colours, but you can copy paste it into a word processor if you're that interested.

Re: Songs that make you cringe

Thinking of organised dances (in the cringe thread) anybody remember the dreadful "The March of the Mods"
More to the point anybody admit to actually doing it?
I did, but that ages me.
