Re: So... who's starting the EU referendum chit chat then?

Seeing as it could turn into a "political" row, and with ref to a recent "sticky" on the old forum... I shall refrain from posting my views either for or against

If I was a lot younger I wouldn't have known anything else so I would probably leave a certain comment.

But being older and knowing better I would probably leave a different comment.

I have just read this on the Guardian Newspaper ,,,,,,

TIME FOR A REALITY CHECK European Commission President JUNKER "worried sick about a ‪#‎BREXIT‬" tells EU Parliament, QUOTE IN HIS OWN WORDS: "WE NEED BRITAIN, PERSONALLY I DON'T THINK BRITAIN NEEDS THE EUROPEAN UNION"!!!

Re: So... who's starting the EU referendum chit chat then?

Everyone is sick of assorted politicians whining about it.

Most reasoning adults are able to make a simple YES/NO decision, without help.

Re: So... who's starting the EU referendum chit chat then?

I think it a bad decision by Cameron on behalf of the politicians to have a referendum at all, in passing it back to the general population they have effectively absolved themselves of any responsibility of the outcome.

The MPs are elected to make these decision on our behalf and should be knowledgeable of all the facts and possible results, it’s obvious they haven’t a clue.

So much time and words are being wasted!

Re: So... who's starting the EU referendum chit chat then?

I have to agree with some other comments. Both sides make bold (and contradictory) statements, without any, or at least very tenuous, evidence. In the end, voters will have to vote on instinct, and in mater's like this, instinct isn''t a good guide.

I do know that statements about how much it "costs" the British tax payer are twisted by both sides, and that those people who think that our legislation will change significantly on leaving the EU are, at best, ignorant.

As a matter of interest, would anyone like to guess what year the British government decided that the UK would go metric?

I agree with the "both sides" thing - but....

One side is using scare tactics - job losses, "10 years unsettled", etc

The other tries to refute those scares.

And I know which side I'll be voting for... NOT the scares.

Erm... isn't it the very case that we're normally not happy that they never listen to us and just do what the hell they want? - like europe?

Now you're moaning that they don't do whatever they want and should ignore us?

Yikes!

The politicians are probably getting EU back-handers to stay in anyway!

... sorry, didn't realise there were two threads about the EU referendum.

posted a reply earlier on the very long referendum thread (200+ entries), starting here and previous last post here.
