So the bank holiday weekend went well then?

Hasn't stopped raining here for most of the last two days, still chucking it down outside.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Now had rwo bowls matches rained off. Normally bowls continues in the rain, there's this popular myth that it's played in glorious sunshine, in practice most games are played in pretty grotty weather, played one match last year in Berkhampstead in a raging thunder storm, which some of us thought was decidedly dangerous, but the captains resolutely ignored the signs.

That's right Josie..."proper" bowls, "whites" for inter club matches, except evening matches, when they are played as all other home club matches and roll-up's in "greys" Our club is very traditional, and has not yet succumbed to coloured shirts.

Quite right, but the colourful side of TV bowls has been done to keep the TV guys happy rather than the players, very largely TV only shows indoor bowls (many years ago some crown green was shown on TV, was a little like watching paint dry) which has a passing resemblance to green bowls.
And yes, the players for TV bowls are much younger than the average you will find around clubs.

Re: So the bank holiday weekend went well then?

Sunday & Monday weather awful here on the East Coast. Have just peered, somewhat bleary-eyed, out of the window to see what the weather’s like – and its worse!  I’ve now got to brave the elements and go and put the wheelie bin for emptying.  Looks as though I’ll be donning my “wet-gear”!
Perhaps Browning’s poem “Oh, to be in England” needs to be updated due to climate change!

You should all have been in Scotland - we've had three really nice, sunny days.  It was a bit breezy yesterday but still sunny.  It's a bit dull and overcast this morning though and the forecast for today is "light rain" (saving grace is I'm back at work today!).

Beautiful weather in Yorkshire, although a little breezy at times.
Bit of rain now - it'll do the grass the power of good.
Shame for those who got wet this weekend though!

Just slightly north of Watford, which is close enough to "enjoy" the same bank-holiday weather.
Jams_H lives (or was in) in the nether regions "north of Watford" further than which most southerners don't realise exists...shame on them.
