London's hardly the "deep south" Smiley

well it's only 50 miles from the south coast -  Smiley I should know - I lived in Brighton for a while .
From where I live now - even Sheffield is in the south -  Wink
From memory James  in the video you did a while back you said you moved north to be in Sheffield - so maybe you're a Londoner - so no offence ment. I like visiting the London - but would hate to move back south - far far too crowded.

Re: Snow

@Jamesh
Ah yes, remember reading about this, hats off to all of you.
Most I've had to deal with as regards a major IT emergency was when an air con unit in one of our server rooms decided it had had enough, had to dash in and shut everything down and wait for an air con engineer and that was at 8.30 in the evening.
Not fun at all but nothing compared to what being flooded must have been like.

Or a server room flooded with sewage, which I've been into - the "aircon" was still running too, as were all the servers!  Crazy

Ta Phil,
not a bad guess then - two 155M links to London.
A shame everything has to go via the deep south - Huh  in these days of terrorist threats etc - we have too much in one area.
Is there no major hub in the north - after all Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds  - conurbation area have a huge population, and up here in Scotland Edinburgh / Glasgow - central belt is likewise. There must be a lot of tromboning ( traffic going down south only to return north again ).

Most of the Large Data Centres such as Telehouse are in Lodnon because that is where a large majority of the submarine cables come ahore to link us to Europe and elsewhere and of course they get plenty of business from the City of London too
I'm quite surprised that PN don't have links to MaNAP ( Manchester Network Access Point) too for redundancy

Re: Snow

Goodness me - no need to apologise James. I enjoyed the openness of the video - and hair style is irrelevant .
I know Berko - been through it when the A41 went through the town many times back in 70's and then through on the Grand Union canal many times too.

Re: Snow

You looked a little bored there James (probably why he didn't want it dug out)
Glad to see that PLusnet staffers are a community of geeks (I use that in a complementary way as I consider mysekf one too)
Did try growing the hair but it annoyed me too much.

I also work in a technical environment with a relaxed dress code, it does help you be more relaxed.
Could never work in a job that required that you were suited and booted, just gives you stress.
