Nah, I've got a third floor flat that gets heated from the people below.

You mean they talk a lot of hot air and it rises?

Re: Snow

Little bit here in MK
Are Plusnet staffers able to work from home in the event that sheffields transport links get blocked?
Or can you opt to work from home.
If so I'll definitely be applying if a job comes up when I get my cisco  Smiley

Re: Snow

728 feet up in the hills of south Sheffield and it's a clear night...no snow but the outside thermometer reads 0.9 degrees celsius...brrrrr
It read 0.1 degrees about 2 hours ago but there's no way it's getting warmer Crazy

The colder, the better provided it doesn't rain, love the cold, hate the rain.

Re: Snow

Snow is still on the ground here.
Just heard on the radio - first October snow in SE since 1974 and first in London since 1934!

Re: Snow

Yep, got a bit cold for us last night.  A lot of ice on the car this morning!  I got to the station to find there where no trains, but they where going to put a bus on sometime!  Now just over 2 1/2 hours later I've arrived in work.  It's only 15 miles away and usually takes me 45 - 50 mins.  My feet are now blocks of ice!  Chilly, how do you stop your feet from freezing? That sounds like the title of a bookUndecided

We'll cope Smiley

Oh yes the Sheffield floods  Sad
But did BT's underground cable network survive intact ? -
I would assume PN are on a 100M pipe(s)  of some sort - and if that one pipe went out all would fall over - or have you a radio link into BT

Re: Snow

Mal, Here's how Plusnet's network fits together.  Data Centre 1 & 2 are in Sheffield.  If the Sheffield - London links went down them broadband connections would still be ok, but the Sheffield services (such as Email, portal, community site, ccgi etc...) would be inaccessable.

Re: Snow

Ta Phil,
not a bad guess then - two 155M links to London.
A shame everything has to go via the deep south - Huh  in these days of terrorist threats etc - we have too much in one area.
Is there no major hub in the north - after all Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds  - conurbation area have a huge population, and up here in Scotland Edinburgh / Glasgow - central belt is likewise. There must be a lot of tromboning ( traffic going down south only to return north again ).

London's hardly the "deep south" Smiley
