Re: Snow

None up in Liverpool.  Nice bit of sun here, though I suspect it might be a little chilly if I open the window!

Re: Snow

According to that Peter, Birmingham is the coldest place in the country.
Which is in the Midlands.

Re: Snow

No
Nessy acts as an overnight icebreaker  Shocked

Anyway - there is usually enough wave action to keep it ice free until temperatures really dip,
The Caledoinan canal in it's more seheltered areas will be prone to ice at 0 C though
The Midland canals regularly freeze, been there done it on several Christmas / New year cruises.

Re: Snow

Interesting new beta weather site over at the Beeb
shows that most of the colder weather is over England rather than Scotland.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/
But the deepest snow I can remember was about 20 years ago and I had to walk to work about 5 miles as no buses running - and car U/S.
It was about a 12 to 18 inches  deep
and the place was - Boreham to Chelmsford  Grin Grin

Re: Snow

Your lucky I was working on Boreham Airfield, we did not run from December to the end of March.
Also Chelmsford did not know what road clearance was, up to there borders the Main roads were clear and the roads through were like plowed fields.   We also had bad Snow Dec 62

Re: Snow

First snow last night in Inverness, usually it doesn't last longer than 24 hours with the hills and sea nearby as it breeds its own weather, most of it has melted already.  But very cold atm so expect more tonight.
Glad I bought a new electric blanket last week with this cold snap hitting hardish
