Smoked food

Smoked bacon, Smoked Kippers etc……Never liked the taste of anything smoked…..

Seem to recall years ago before fridges were available food was smoked to preserve it.

Can’t see that smoked food can be good for you but that’s an assumption on my part.

Re: Smoked food

Nice for the gourmet inclined I guess but not really for me especially in fish where smoking does not (or so I have be told) always get rid of those parasites. As for carcinogens released into the food...

Having said that I don't suppose a BBQ is much different and I just love those when we get the chance, and my son once smoked a huge chunk of wild boar on his even more huge BBQ which took most of the day.

Tender wild boar and a few glasses of (unsmoked) red wine under a warm evening sun.

Delish. 😋

Re: Smoked food

Not a fan of smoked bacon, but an occasional kipper, smoked cheese and a cup of Lapsang Souchong go down well.  😋

Re: Smoked food

can`t stand that "psuedo" smokey bacon taste.... leaves a foul taste in the mouth after eating it... and you cannot actually taste the bacon...

Presumably it is a similar thing to curry... a crafty way of using up substandard foods, by changing the taste of it.

does smoked salmon taste of fish?   or does it taste of the smoke?

As with kippers or smoked haddock - they taste of smoky fish.  Smiley

His mates probably told him about smoking skunk and he forgot which animal they'd said.
