Re: Smog

I'll hold my breath while outside today.
Many years ago I experienced a smog where I quite literally could not see my hand with an outstretched arm.
We had an outside loo and I had to find it by feeling my way along the house wall.

Re: Smog

Smog,
The only people who know what smog is really like in this country would be those who lived in London or one of the big cities in the 1950 era when most households used coal for heating and factory chimneys pumped smoke into the atmosphere, the data for deaths resulting from smog related  illnesses tell the full story.
Be interesting to know if data for China and other countries who have smog show figures for illnesses & death rates.

Re: Smog

Peace man.... Lips are sealed
Smog is a mixture of smoke and fog.
It was common in Sheffield (for example) prior to the introduction of smokeless zones.
If you looked over the East End of Sheffield at that time when the steel producers were oxygen blowing you would see why smog was common here.
