Smile, it's not as bad as you think...

The price of Petrol versus Printer Ink
All these examples do NOT imply that petrol is cheap; it just illustrates how outrageous some prices are....
You will be really shocked by the last one! (At least, I was...)
Compared with Petrol......
Think a gallon of petrol is expensive?
This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.
Diet Snapple 16 oz £1.29 .. £10.32 per gallon
Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz £1.19 ...........£9.52 per gallon
Ocean Spray 16 oz £1.25 ......... £10.00 per gallon
Brake Fluid 12 oz £3.15 ...... £33.60 per gallon
Vick's Nyquil 6 oz E8.35 ... £178.13 per gallon
Pepto Bismol 4 oz £3.85 . £123.20 per gallon
Tippex 7 oz £1.39 ....... . £5.42 per gallon
And this is the REAL KICKER...
Evian water 9 oz £1.49..£21.19 per gallon!    £21.19 for WATER and the buyers don't even know the source (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)
You don't even want to compare it with perfume or after shave.
Ever wonder why printers are so cheap?
So they have you hooked for the ink.
Someone calculated the cost of the ink at................
(you won't believe it....but it is true........)
£5,200 a gal.. (five thousand two hundred pounds)
So, the next time you're at the pump,be glad your car doesn't run on water, or Tippex, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink!
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Thanks for that one; some of us have not choice but to drink bottled or boiled water; Sickness bug found in tap water
Anglian Water will not supply us with bottled water, and I bet we get no compensation to cover the added boiling of the kettle.

It's almost 15 years now since I lived in the Middle East (Oman), but I used to pay 17 pence per litre of petrol, 50 pence per litre for drinking water (delivered by tanker; stored rather like fuel oil here). Printers then mostly had ribbons...

When we lived in Colombia we actually had to use bottled water to clean our teeth.  Which was a little different.

Er! as a matter of interest, I only copied and pasted this into a post, and I've just noticed that the Tipex one must be wrong surely. So it's not my maths that's shaky Ok!! Does make you suspect the others a bit as well though.

Some of the products seem to be American brands. Maybe some conversions to GBP from USD went wrong?
7 ounces is a lot of Tippex! My bottle here is 20 ml which is 0.7 fluid ounces which costs about a pound
0.7 fluid ounces or 20 ml at £1.00  is approx £228 per gallon

I suppose it depends how you cost it.  It looks like the figure is based on the cost of cartridges which is not just the cost of the ink.
I pay £1 for 100ml which equates to £45.46 per gallon, still not cheap but nothing like the figure quoted.

A US Gallon is 80% of a UK Gallon. Exactly.
1 US gallon = 3.78541178 litres

Re: Smile, it's not as bad as you think...

For the tippex calculation I used used these;
20 ml = 0.703901304 Imperial fluid ounces.    1 Imperial gallon = 160 Imperial fluid ounces
But if you think too hard it does become  more complicated
1 US gallon = 133.227814 Imperial fluid ounces
1 US gallon = 128 US fluid ounces
1 Imperial gallon = 153.721654 US fluid ounces
As I mentioned earlier these look like American products and I think the conversions may well be in US fluid ounces and US gallons.

Sorry, it's not. I'd forgotten about US and Imperial Fluid Ounces being different. Nearer 83%.  Embarrassed
