Slow cooked Bread

Slow cooked Bread, ie, cooked in a slow cooker.

Tried it 5 times now, so far a success every time, using Bread mixes.

Plenty of online guides, each packet has instructions.

Not even any need to prove the dough.

Total cooking time, just 2 hours.

We use three washing up bowls.

One to mix dough, one to knead dough, and one filled with water to wash hands throughout.

Keeps worktop clean.

Slow cooker pot "greased" with butter or marg.

At end of 2 hours, the loaf, once cooled, just drops out.

"Alexa, timer, 2 hours, bread"

We use a meat thermometer, once internal temperature of loaf is 200ºC, the loaf is cooked.

Nice soft crust, which we like.

We have the bread mixes as backup, now it's an occasional treat.

Re: Slow cooked Bread

We've had once of these for a while now.

Mrs makes all sort of different types of bread in it using locally sourced flour. Goes on last thing at night, lovely smell of fresh bread in the morning.

Sure we might forget sometimes and have to pop out for a small loaf or some rolls, but nine times out of ten it's home baked.

@shutter

Kitchen rebuilds?  No chance.

Mrs keeps asking me to move cupboards around and there is no chance of that either. Even decorating a kitchen is a real pain.

Re: Slow cooked Bread

Our house has been designated a Marmite free exclusion zone.

Twiglets allowed, but only at Christmas.

Re: Slow cooked Bread

I`m too old to get pregnant... so I`ll leave off the beans ! ! ...

(oh ,... hang on...   I`m a bloke.... so does that mean I have to have the beans as well as the Weetabix  ? ?  )
