When we visit our Son & Daughter-in-Law, they cook a delicious Whole Chicken or Beef Joint in a slow cooker.
Veg is cooked separately.
So we have just bought one for ourselves.
Any advice welcome.....
We already have had some great (but limited) advice from Family

I've not bought one of those for ages, preferring red meat, but I'm sure someone'll know what to do with it.

I find that bag of bits inside a whole chicken a bit chewy. 🙄

Cut 2 onions in half after peeling.
Stand in base of slow cooker, place joint of beef on onions, add nothing, no water or anything.
Put on medium heat 7 or 8 hours.....
Delicious !
😊

That reminds me of a few years ago when I walked past Mr. Murphys house just down the road.
He was sitting in the garden with his head and feet all bandaged up, so I asked what had happened to him.
"Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney Pudding" he answered.
"How so?" I asked.
"Well de instructions said pierce 'ear and stand in boiling water." came his reply.
My coats already on.

Honey butter pork loin or shoulder roast:
https://www.recipetineats.com/wprm_print/31647
Made this earlier last year due to having a loin in the freezer that was never used for christmas 2019 and oh my goodness it was so good, to the point I just had it as was from the pot without any sides, just utterly delicious, only "downside" was browning the meat in a pan, having the hold it upright as the ends were given a nice browning got a bit tedious, but the result was utterly worth it... 🤤

Which is how we currently cook roast chicken in the oven, after placing Chicken sans everything into a Roast Bag.
Great invention, after a long day spent cleaning the oven a while back .
On a par with Shower cubicle glass.
Now..... we squeegee after every shower.... the glass that is.... not ourselves !
Having been stood on the base !
And NO peeling in the shower.

I bought mine to make stews in Winter.
They never taste like my Mum's did.
