Sir Patrick Moore has died

Just reported on BBC News 24.
He was 89.
Hosted The Sky At Night for over 50 years.
Just loved his enthusiasm.

Re: Sir Patrick Moore has died

Very knowledgeable, enthusiastic personality.  Sad news.
I didn't realise he was the longest running presenter of the same TV show in the world - The Sky at Night.

Let's not forget he was a self-taught xylophonist.

No question about it, he was very good and must have got a lot of young people to take up astronomy as a hobby or even as a job.

Re: Sir Patrick Moore has died

Sad news.
I wonder if his co-presenters will be allowed to continue the show in something close to its present form. I fear that if the show continues the powers that be will be unable to resist jazzing it up.

Re: Sir Patrick Moore has died

He made astronomy interesting, even for those not interested in astronomy.
I always had the feeling that he enjoyed his eccentric man from mars in a badly fitting suit reputation.

Re: Sir Patrick Moore has died

I actually thought he was older because he'd been on the TV for so long (and still going strong even quite recently), a true 'great' and will be missed.
