Don't know how "modern maritime technology" could have prevented this.
Surely the best analogy would be the pilot of a Jumbo jet deciding to do a low fly-past over his friends house and hitting his wing because he had stupidly gone too low.
No technology can prevent such idiocies......

There was a word used on the news this morning something like 'swashbuckling' (but it wasn't), means to 'raise and salvage a ship'.
I'd never heard the word before, intended to look it up. Any one else hear it.

Yes I heard it on the radio this morning.  They had an expert describing the operation and he used the word.

Is that the intention then? - to sail it again? - I was under the impression it was just being removed to cut it up for scrap?
