Re: Shock ! Horror !.... BG prices down 5%

Even with a 5% reduction they will still be one of the most expensive energy suppliers

The funny thing is that they are doing it from the end of the winter (in about a month's time).

Re: Shock ! Horror !.... BG prices down 5%

I was thinking of switching but will wait to see what happens with the other 4 big companies. I don't expect I will go with any of them but their prices will affect the smaller companies who will reduce accordingly.

Re: Shock ! Horror !.... BG prices down 5%

In Prague, I pay about 5.5p per kWh for electricity and 3.5p per kWh for gas. A fair bit cheaper than here in the UK as prices have fallen more for both gas/electricity.

Re: Shock ! Horror !.... BG prices down 5%

That is certainly a lot cheaper. I am paying 13.25per kWh for electricity and 4.15p per kWh for gas with EON. What are others paying?

I would tell some stories here but I could lose my sister her job so I cannot.  Yes she works for one of the big domestic fuel companies.

Re: Shock ! Horror !.... BG prices down 5%

So far announcements only refer to reductions in GAS prices. There has been no announcement of reductions to ELECTRICITY prices. I wonder why. I thought much electricity is from gas / oil fired generators.

Re: Shock ! Horror !.... BG prices down 5%

About 30% of electricity production comes from natural gas in the UK.
The energy companies will argue that there are higher operational/investment costs relating to electricity production, so wholesale prices have not fallen as much as with gas.
