Service Message on Mobile Phone - how to switch it off

A Service Message on a Mobile Phone is a push-message from the web. It is delivered with a different audible tone to the mobile phone, and I have not found a setting to change the tone or to switch tone off.
It has nothing to do with sms (short message service).
It is used for advertisement and is cheaper than a sms.
T-Mobile in my case has enabled this service, but does not give any clues how to switch it off. They claim they a) cannot switch it off or b) they have switched it off.
These were always from http://w03.v762.net . They can then be "retrieved", and always was from "myjoy", with 18+, half naked bums, etc.
The only way to switch Service Message off is to disallow push-messaging on the mobile phone:
In case of my Nokia
Go to main menu
Go to Web (earth ball)
Go to Settings
Go to Service Inbox Settings
Go to Service Messages
Select Off
Hope this is of help for other people who suffer from this permanent disturbance of their mobile-life.

Here some technical jargon, title: "Comparison of WAP Push and Short Message Service (SMS)" at http://developer.openwave.com/docs/wappush_vs_sms.pdf.

What you are receiving is MMS spam
Have a look in your phone's manual, there should be an option to stop the phone bothering to retrieve them.
