Re: Serious trouble ahead?

It's actually old news, it was mentioned a while back somewhere probably on good old auntie. I don't drink a lot of beer, but I will be disappointed if the price does go up.

Re: Serious trouble ahead?

Looks like it's time to hit the spirits and wine then.

Re: Serious trouble ahead?

Sounds OK in theory @Chris BUT after just one pint of wine I seem to get unsteady / confused / stupid - this never happens with beer.  And as for spirits... Wink

Re: Serious trouble ahead?

Ah you see, that's your problem. Don't bother with pints of wine, the bottle does the trick.

Re: Serious trouble ahead?

Bring back National Service with the squaddies tasked with planting and picking hops in Kent and Hereford.

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Re: Serious trouble ahead?

@AlaricAdair you obviously did not read the op`s linky.... it was caused by a dry summer last year... and it is europe wide. so all beer will be going up... even in Germany ! ..

Squaddies planting hops would do nothing to alleviate the problems caused by the weather.

Re: Serious trouble ahead?

If you double the acreage of planted vines it would counteract reduced yield.

Re: Serious trouble ahead?

Maybe so... but, you then have to factor in the increased labour costs to harvest, which probably nullifies any "gain" made by your aforementioned suggestion  Huh
