Probably because pensioners and celebrities are more likely to vote anyway.

Or should it be:-
Two million young people will not vote......
because the polling booth closes before they get out of bed.

Re: Seems like 7up is not alone

The youth of years ago (now the older generation) took far more interest in politics and things that affected them than most of the youth of today.
By interest I mean attended demonstrations and marches.
I Never supported those who wanted to ban the bomb but the numbers attending such marches were large when compared to the total population of the day.
Even today it seems older people are more inclined to get involved in action groups than most younger people who just want to, 'chill'

I Think you missed the word 'most' in my post, it does not have the same meaning as 'all' Smiley

Re: Seems like 7up is not alone

That 2 million figure seems WAY low  Huh
Not sure what the definition of 'young people' is here, but apparently the UK has 14.6 million people under the age of 25.  The young always have a lower election turnout than the old - hence politicians 'caring' more about pensioners - but even if you applied the overall turnout %age in 2010 (65.1%) that would suggest that there ought to something around 5 million young people not voting.
If the 2 million is correct, the - HUGE - story would actually be an historically HIGH turnout among the young  Roll eyes

We need to vote all politicians out of office, whoever is in Parliament in your constituency vote for someone that isn't from the 3 main parties.
