Discovering the secret of a happy marriage is something many couples yearn to find but would you be willing to sniff your partner's body odour or fire a gun next to them to establish if they're Mr Right?
The 'basic tests' the magazine recommends are four unusual experiments called the body odour test, the physical attraction test, the nervous disorder test and the sympathy test.
Very scientific! But did they have a point?

There have been scientific studies showing that people are attracted to partners whose body odour has certain characteristics. One aspect is the preference for a partner with as different genetic make up to ones own as possible thus ensuring that offspring are more resistant to disease and less like to be born with genetic defects. The modern version of the experiment that I saw on TV had subjects sniffing sweaty t-shirts enclosed in a plastic bag. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_odor_and_subconscious_human_sexual_attraction
