Saw this and thought Chit Chat

The pun conundrum
Quote
No pun is an island. Within less than a mile of my house in Brooklyn, a wanderer will find:
Fish & Sip, a coffee and seafood joint
Prospect Perk Cafe, an allusion to the restorative properties of caffeine and of nearby Prospect Park
The Winey Neighbour, a liquor store that pays homage to the venerable New York tradition of grumbling about the noise from the apartment next door
Quote
Sigmund Freud, by contrast, identified puns as an admission of weakness, a psychic release-valve in which humour alleviates the stress of repressing unpleasant truths.

Certainly don't agree with that...

I would agree with that in some instances. Often punning about distressing matters, I think, is a form of rationalisation. I also wanted to make a post before all the dreadful puns begin.  Tongue

I've often pundered the same thing as the author of that article.

Re: Saw this and thought Chit Chat

You need to read some of the Piers Anthony Xanth series. It is BASED on puns, some laughs in it though.
