Re: Sat Nave are getting frightening

That really is clever stuff.
I wonder how many of those will still lead drivers onto railway lines etc.

Re: Sat Nave are getting frightening

the temptation is to blindly follow the car.  would you ever know how you'd made your way since you wouldn't be paying attention to your surroundings?
roll on the day we can have intelligent cars that drive themselves.

Looks like a bad case of tailgating to me.
Still it was good how other cars on the road avoided the virtual car.
Very clever stuff though Cool

They've got to keep the sat-nag market going somehow haven't they.. plus they're good at turning people into drones which seems to be what governments want these days..

Re: Sat Nave are getting frightening

The EU's new Galileo GPS system will give an accuracy of four metres. The present commercial version of the US satellite GPS is accurate to about 10 metres. It will mean that road charging schemes are much more feasible. The satellite based systems are still susceptible to interference from solar flares and signal reflections from high buildings. As Galileo comes on stream expect more systems like Route66, when the manufacturers tie in image recognition technology to map what can be seen in the locality to the stored maps.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Re: Sat Nave are getting frightening

And of course once that goes live we'll all want to switch to that.. then aisia will want its own GPS so they'll put one up and we'll all want that... then once japan/china/russia all put theirs up they'll invent a hardcode satnav for hardcore motorists / ex-army idiots that will use all of them or one you choose etc etc.
You might just as well use an onboard carputer and just buy the appropriate usb dongle when its released instead. Permanent upgradeability and you can use it to play music too Smiley
