Saga motor insurance:-

Saga sent me a mail-shot for 5 star cover for just £114, just thought I give-it a try.
1962 Landrover, SORN, not driven on the highway, mileage covered in a year possibly 300 miles, parked in a locked barn, one driver, no endorsements, 3rd party only, > 10 years NCB.

does anybody get "saga" coverage for £114?

Re: Saga motor insurance:-

I've just done a quote for my 06 Focus and it's £249.29.
Low annual mileage, no commuting and fully comprehensive.
I can't imagine who would qualify for a £114 premium these days.

Re: Saga motor insurance:-

It would pay them to charge someONE £16 so they could then claim they issued policies from that figure.

I've never found Saga to be very competitive on motor insurance.

Re: Saga motor insurance:-

There was the case where someone was PAID to take out a policy a few years ago, using a combo of cashback and low premium she got a refund.
Just did a quote for me £138.03 not bad.

Re: Saga motor insurance:-

I think I paid around £230 fully comp with all mods declared on my oldish Astra.
Then the calls from all the other companies came through with the "we are confident we'll beat your quote" lines. I humoured them and none could come close. One even managed to "get it down to £600 if you're interested and sign up with us today" despite having told him he was unlikely to better my renewal of £230 a the beginning of the phone call.

£260.85 + breakdown cover + legal + courtesy car!
THEY MUST BE JOKING
I pay almost £100 less than that including all their 'extras'.
Did anyone else notice that when keying in your birthdate, the drop down goes as far as 1999!

Did you mean 1899?
Edit: just checked and it goes as far back as 1894!
1999 is the most recent. Considering they only insure 50s and over I would have expected the date to only be as recent as 1963.

Re: Saga motor insurance:-

No, it tops out at 1999. For a company that seems to specialise in over 50s that seems a little odd. Any 15 year old licenced drivers out there? Cheesy
God knows what the list starts at. Roll eyes
[EDIT]
So, they'll quote for someone who is 120 years old!!!!!

Re: Saga motor insurance:-

I get the same sort of mails from Saga each year, too: they show the correct car and a price that's around what everyone else is quoting but when I go to their site, they actually quote around double Shocked
Does anybody buy their insurance Huh
Mind you, the renewal quotes I get each year are almost invariably way higher than what's quoted by other companies via the comparison sites - despite the company having been among the more competitive the previous year.  I guess ripping off people who can't be bothered to check prices is more profitable than hanging on to the customers who do bother.

Think I'll be doing the quotations round soon - only did 1300 miles last year including a trip to Belgium.
