Sadly missed

When we moved into this area around 12 years ago one of our first things to do was to locate a GP's practice. We found one of several in the area that we've never regretted. The first person we met when signing up to the practice was a lovely lady receptionist, who has proved over the relatively short time a good friend to us.
This irrepressibly cheerful lady of just 55 years, left the surgery recently, drove home, made herself a cup of tea, sat down to watch a little afternoon TV...and simply died.
She had apparently an undiagnosed heart condition.
She was not only popular with us, but was the unquestioned most popular member of staff with the patients and her colleagues from the practice manager through the doctors and nurses to the local chemist reps who visited.
She left a devastated husband and two grown up children and grandchildren.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Re: Sadly missed

That's very sad, Petlew. So devastating for the family that is left behind.
Finding someone like that is a rarity these days - particularly at a GP's surgery.
It just proves how cruel life can be especially when you hear that thieves, muggers even murderers end up winning the lottery and living the high-life.

Re: Sadly missed

Sad news Petlew.  GP receptionists have a reputation for being rude and uncaring, which is far from the truth.

Re: Sadly missed

Many of the receptionists when I lived in London were exceptionally rude. Of recent years here in East Kent gradually a better attitude is to be found. Still the odd jobsworth but generally a better experience.
Thankfully I don't have much recourse to visit for myself these days.
