Re: Ronnie Biggs

Yes, he is in a very poor way.  He should have been released months ago.

Re: Ronnie Biggs

Well, he got what he needed - free health care, albeit in prison, and what he wanted - British citizenship for his son.
Can't imagine he has many regrets - he's lived the high life for many years and made excellent use of the British taxpayer at the end of it.

Re: Ronnie Biggs

Difficult to feel sorry for the guy.  He's lived very nicely for 40 years longer than the train guard, and only came back to the UK, to have his medical care paid for.

Re: Ronnie Biggs

Totally agree - they should have left him where he was - that would have been suitable punishment and the government would have been spared the cost of looking after him. Even in prison I would hazard a guess that his care was a lot better than many of our senior citizens get in care homes.
It was at the top of the news on BBC1 this morning so now we are going to have it all pushed down our throats at least until he dies, and then some.
It makes me quite angry.  Angry  He represents a lot that is bad in our society - the notion that you can take what you want from anybody and celebrate, glorify, and make money from it.

Re: Ronnie Biggs

Judging by the comments on the news this morning he is in a very poor way and it doesn't sound as if he will survive too long once his release is actioned.

Re: Ronnie Biggs

Isn't that about the going rate on a life sentence for murder these days?

Re: Ronnie Biggs

Yes.  I guess today he would have got no more than 5 years for his part in the robbery.

Re: Ronnie Biggs

no doubt his son will follow in his foot steps,ie write a book, sell articles,do interviews (for cash only of course), when that runs out live of the state etc

Re: Ronnie Biggs

My thoughts exactly tgr - he's probably already been signed up by Max Clifford.
Alas, the paying public don't seem to mind parting with their hard-earned cash for this sort of drivel.

Re: Ronnie Biggs

I'm not sure what status the son has.  Is he a visitor here or resident?
I'm sure the press will already have made contact with both father and son in the hopes of getting an interview.
