Re: Richard III

We used to have a pub here in York, called the "Richard the Third". It was known locally as Dick S H one T (join them together) which came from Dick the Turd!

Re: Richard III

I really don't care where he's buried. I think it's all very overrated if you ask me.
There used to be such as thing as "Rest In Peace" but these days even the royals don't get that right. They'll charge you council tax and yearly rent on your grave next and evict you if you can't pay it.
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: Richard III

What a disappointing programme from C4. Tony Robinson and the Time Team boys & girls must be weeping into their beer.
That archaeologist excavating R3's bones - you are inches above what you think mght be one of the most important archaeological discoveries ever, anywhere; what do you chose as your excavating implement? A small bladed trowel? A delicate scraper? Take all day if necessary and get it right? NO - a  pickaxe!! Straight through his head.
Oh and don't get me started on the Richard III Society - they seem like a bunch of loonies who put forward their Chief Nutjob to burst into tears every five minutes. The little ceremony where they draped the cardboard box full of bones with a royal standard before shoving it in the back of the van - hilarious

I hardly think that being buried under a car park in Leicester can be deemed to be a suitable royal burial place  Roll eyes
True he'd been there, unknown, for nearly 528 years but had it not happened now it never would have as there would have been no further dna sources alive.
Obviously not everyone is interested in history but this was  a fascinating piece of research albeit the CH4 program could have been better presented.
Agree that Richard 111 Society are a strange bunch and I noticed that one of the scientists didn't think putting standard on box at all appropriate and declined to be involved.

Re: Richard III

Wel, the want him buried in York or Leicester but our MP thinks he should be buried in the medieval Priory Church here in Worksop, as it is right period and it is half way between York and Leicester!
