Redundant BT overhead line

Does anyone have any ideas how easy (and expensive) is it to get OpenReach to remove a redundant overhead line?
My new home is in a non-FTTC, cabled area, and so the BT line is redundant. The biggest issue is that the previous owner has had dry verge fitted to the gables, and the BT cable passes UNDERNEATH the dry verge, with the result that any movement in the cable is pushing against the dry verge.
I am looking to get the dry verge replaced, as half of it is hanging off anyway, but the way that the BT cable attaches to the tensioner bracket means that it's always going to be in the way.
