Real Time Information (HMRC)

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/payerti/getting-started/index.htm
Anyone here affected by it?
As well as swmbo and self, have a couple of casuals, (who get paid by PAYE), they are in the ‘lower tax bracket’. By my understanding “no paycheque this month” still requires an electronic return.
Am tempted to suggest we all go ‘self employed’, lot less effort.
Any thoughts anyone?

Re: Real Time Information (HMRC)

I'm not really affected by it but I did hear about it a few weeks back and thought it was going to put a lot more pressure on companies payroll staff. Seems like another way of holding power over companies if you ask me while trying to destroy the weaker small businesses who don't have the resources to do it.

How is going self employed and having to do you own returns every year less effort?

Re: Real Time Information (HMRC)

For the company it would be as they'd loose the responsibility of doing the staffs pay roll but for the staff its more effort.
You learn quite a lot though when you have to do your own books.

I bet people in remote rural areas where they can't get broadband are really pleased with this!

Have to do my own (and Swmbo's) TAX return anyway we draw an annual salary paid end of March each year,  (1 payslip, 1 P60 for each of us)
It is the casuals that take up most of the effort.
