A couple of weeks back BBC was talking about saving energy, went to a effluent house that had a 42 inch Plasma TV mounted on the Kitchen Wall

Now come on boys - behave yourselves. Presumably Pierre means an affluent house as you well know. 
In which case, the folk who live there must be very multi-talented if they can watch TV (42" or otherwise) while preparing their tea.

Reminds me of an author, Afferbeck Lauder, who wrote at least 2 slender volumes, "Let's Speak 'Strine" and "Fraffly Well Spoken", that set out phonetically how to speak with an authentic Australian accent, or a West End of London accent, respectivley.
