Re: RIP paint

about time too - a most useless program which I haven't used since XP replaced 98SE

I have used FastStone as it is quick/easy/more options/better

Re: RIP paint

For occasional screenshots, I use Paint, for everything else, I use the positively ancient Paintshop Pro 7... Grin

Re: RIP paint

I use Paint regularly for quick removal of sensitive details from attachments posted in these forums.

Does what it says on the tin without fuss without having to install other software.

the list actaully says it's deprecated, not removed.
which means that it'll remain for now, but no longer actively being developed or supported.

Re: RIP paint

And even if it was removed, there's plenty of internet advice n how to manually add other versions of the program, including the XP version into 7...

@rongtw Do I understand from that that MS is diversifying in to property maintenance? Do they scrape or use a solvent?Funny

No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: RIP paint

I have both Paint and Paint 3D on my Win 10, which I have used sometimes, but not looked at closely, because for anything other than a simple adjustment it's my Photoplus app.

Re: RIP paint

As Mav and 2cv say... screenshots and removing sensitive details.

Great tool for the very basic of tasks.. for everything else though its an embarassment to MS in my view.

Also from that page:

Other features facing the axe include the Outlook Express email client,

Outlook express doesn't exist on Win7 as it was replaced with Windows Live Mail... so what on earth is that about?

Re: RIP paint

well it's listed on the MS site, so they must still technically have it for download

Re: RIP paint

It mentions non working legacy code... maybe thats code in another dll somewhere?

Either way it isn't present in Win7 home or pro so I can't see them having reintroduced it in later versions of windows. I could be wrong there though - who thought they'd revive XP support after ending it!

Re: RIP paint

@7up  Outlook Express didn't even come with Windows Vista, it was Windows Mail by then, Windows Live Mail in Windows 7 as you say, and now just Mail in Windows 10.
