I'm a guessing its the story about how the yanks were using a special powder to remotely track money they deliberately paid to various parties in order to bomb the final destination into oblivion ....
of course its not limited purely to money tracking they can do it for everything but the process is expensive and they don't do it willy nilly yet, of course as its use spreads it will become a lot cheaper and then they will use it on everything...

Quote from: gleneagles Soon it will be chips with everything,
Think of the possibilities of this technology. It will certainly have the personal privacy brigade up in arms. In London the Oyster card works on similar ideas doesn't it

Your bank account and loyalty cards (such as Nectar) are used by "them" to track your spending patterns. Any unusual spending or transactions with suspicious organisations raise an alert which is logged for subsequent investigation. The use of cash payment in large sums are treated as suspicious and are reported by estate agents, car dealerships, solicitors and Banks. The major ISPs now required by law to track your Internet usage for consequent reporting to security services.
Who needs the effort of RFID chips.

RFID personal chips will be given out by banks in the near future as a matter of course when ever you ask for a credit card (already in large numbers there given out a microchips in the USA) similarly a lot of businesses use RFID chips in there employee's to ensure only those allowed enter different sectors, of course you can take someone else's chip but you also need there bio tags to open the doors (iris/palm/fingerprint etc)
it wont be long before everything in your life is "coded" to your chip(s) and keys/cards/cash/ are all things of distant memory certainly it will happen within the next 20 years faster if there is some form of global conflict that drives the need for instant positive identification

of course even the privacy lobby were actually pro id cards because it meant less other things instead one of the immigration charities pressurised some lobbyists to prevent it from coming into force back in 2002.

It also helped get one employee the sack for telling lies about how a piece of equipment got badly damaged.
RFID on the forklift stores the last 40 operator log on's with time & date, using that info helped security trace what happened on the CCTV system & caught the person in the act

Another good thing about RFID keyfob system we use is if a keyfob gets lost / stolen it can be deactivated in seconds so it's then useless OR if you find a set of key's someones lost, security can read the keyfob info, find out who they belong to & return them.
