R.I.P. Mick McManus

Obituary in today's Times aged 93!

Grapple fans will remember him as the guy who was never beaten on television!

Re: R.I.P. Mick McManus

One of the greats of Saturday afternoon wrestling.
If I remember correctly he hated his ears being touched.

As a child I saw wrestling on ITV & recall Mick, but mostly 'Giant Haystacks' - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Ruane

Smashing bloke Shirley Crabtree (Big Daddy)!
Shook hands with him once, when I took my second son to an open air bout here in York!
He made a point of greeting all the wheelchair users who where almost at ringside!

Kendo Nagasaki was a favourite of mine - Don't think he ever got unmasked on TV - did he?

Wasn't Kent Walton the commentator?

Re: R.I.P. Mick McManus

Indeed it was and very good at it was too, but he had pretensions of being a serious sports commentator and wasn't always happy to be typecast with the "comedy spot" Saturday wrestling.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.
