Re: Quantum of Solace

I wasn't very impressed with the last bond film - Casino Royale. In total utter truth I thought it was absolutely appalling. Bond basically spent 2/3 of the film in a casino playing boring games and mind games on other people. There was almost no action in it.
I'll reconsider when I hear what others have to say about it.
I went to see Taken today (will post a seperate topic about that) and noticed that there is soon to be a Transporter 3. Now having seen the first two Transporter films I am excited about the release of a third and will definately be going to see that.
I don't like this new fella that plays bond though. I think he's crap.
Having just seen Taken, I'd say the fella in that would make a much better Bond. Go and see Taken - you'll see what I mean. Be prepared though it does have some very sickening and disturbing scenes. If I'm totally honest it brought a tear to my eye a few times.

Re: Quantum of Solace

Aren't mind games and brinkmanship what the secret service is all about?
Perhaps I'm looking a little too deep here but I thought poker was a good metaphor for international politics.
I agree there could have been a little more action but I also like the type of films that focus on the mental state of the main character and think Daniel Craig is a good actor for these type of films (did you see Layer Cake?)
Pierce Brosnan was the best Bond I reckon and I particularly enjoyed Tomorrow Never dies.
Have to say though, the films aren't the same without the late, great Desmond Llewellyn as Q.
John Cleese does his best and is funny but does not quite manage to fill the large shoes left by the great man

Re: Quantum of Solace

yeah.  i miss q.  i don't much care for judi dench as m either.  i'd like to see some young, devastatingly beautiful woman, who talks like a human being to bond, who, after all, often risks his life for his country.  having to put up with that open contempt would induce me to quit.

Re: Quantum of Solace

Yeah I miss Q too. It's a shame about what happened to Desmond Llwelyn though. Although I used to live in the same town as him years ago and a few of the local cabbies commented on him being a little unsafe on the roads. Apparently some of them had had a near miss with him.
Still he was a great character and he was essentially the only constant throughout the entire Bond series of films. Cheese just isn't the same and as already stated by others, M just isn't right although I do like the strictness she brings to the Bond films.

Re: Quantum of Solace

Hmmm
Which actress should play M
Sure there are plenty of beautiful youn actresses (sorry female actors) out there that would make great eye candy but they have to be intelligent too.
Of course the gorgeous Eva Green is out of the question as it wouldn't be believeable
Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Quantum of Solace

Went to see this on Thursday and thought was more an action film than your typical Bond formula, was good but went at too quick a pace I reckon.
