Proper shirts

One consequence of my change in lifestyle from International jet-setter to a landed country gent is the missus and I sometimes buy supplies in a local agricultural store. Standard stuff such as fence wire, electric fence, chicken feed. One hidden gem is this agricultural shop sells clothing for real farmers. I happened on the cotton shirts for farmers. They're made from strong soft cotton fabric, well constructed and fit well. The also have the benefit of proper body length so they cover your "vitals" when getting dressed. It means you are not constantly tucking shirt tails into trousers.
This is a world of difference from the "outdoor" shirts sold by large retail shops. Those are made as cheaply as possible with a minimum possible length of fabric in some offshore location in the Far East. The cheap imitations tear at the slightest hint of a thorn.
The price of these clothing gems? £13 and they are made in Fife.
Isn't it sad the large retail chains have made massive profits by shifting production away from the UK whilst the customers are receiving shoddy products as a consequence.

Re: Proper shirts

whats worse is those cheap knock off products carry a premium price tag because of some completely made up notion called "brand image"
in reality its mob mentality and they all want something with the correct label or logo on because its what everyone else is wearing, then suddenly its the product everyone must have, a far cry from the mid 80's where everyone bought whatever was cheapest that did the job and if it happened ot have a logo then so be it (remember NAFF NAFF ?) which some clever clogs figured out meant they could charge more and call the price hike "market forces" because unlike profiteering that's a permissible excuse for hiking prices way above cost ....
just because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you
