Professors

I was watching Newsnight where a Professor was being interviewed and a name popped into my head.

Do you know what that name is?

Re: Professors

Probably a Super tv series ‘It’s the marvel of the age" I watched in my youth.
I'm sure the name will come to me before I Kiss my Pop.

That would be Gerry Anderson.

,,,Gerry Anderson.

I'm thinking one of the earlier series, Fireball XL5 or Supercar, probably the latter as I think I have better memory of the main  Fireball XL5 characters. Doubt that I will ever recall the name though

Re: Professors

Before my time but it's amazing how well Google image search works: I presume that Professor Popkiss is the answer you're looking for (from Supercar, produced in the very early 1960s).
How did they get a colour picture of what I'd presume was a black and white programme?

Re: Professors

Presumably it was a studio photo rather than a still taken from an episode.
Professor Popkiss is correct and one of my childhood heroes.....I had quite a long childhood Wink

Re: Professors

Looks more like an Engineer than a Professor  (of course excluding Sir Martin Poliakoff)

Re: Professors

Looked forward to it with a sense of trepidation.
Thought it was absolute rubbish... yet I did quite like the Captain Scarlett remake Wink

Re: Professors

But they are using...................... actors!
It's total rubbish - not like the original Thunderbirds, which was much better.  Lips_are_sealed
