Price of goods

I was reading an old camera magazine the other day published in June/July 2009 and looking at the price of some camera Lenses then and looking at the same things in a current edition of the same magazine the prices have gone up by a considerable amount.
How can something like a camera lens, which has or is likely to be replaced by an even more updated version cost a lot more than it's original new price ?
A mystery to me perhaps someone has an answer.

Re: Price of goods

Probably mostly due to the pound dropping through the floor as they are imported
Assuming they come from Japan and the magazine is printed a couple of months before the cover date this may explain it

Re: Price of goods

That links in with a few of my mates who recently went to Cyprus for a holiday........ the cost of things appears to have doubled there !
Other friends who went to Turkey said a whiskey was £5 and a bottle of Coke £1.
I guess you would not be having to many boozy nights there unless you were a banker !
