Plusnet on the Ball ?

Wow is plusnet taking pro active stance ?  market A / B charges decided to implement a wider definition for ‘Low Cost Areas‘ on their network.   https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2018/05/isp-plusnet-expand-uk-low-cost-areas-to-more-broadband...

A Spokesperson for Plusnet told ISPreview.co.uk:

We always want to do the very best for our customers and took the decision to make the changes ahead of Ofcom’s final statement being issued.”

Re: Plusnet on the Ball ?

Plusnet have been doing it wrong, and it's supposed to be a good thing that they are now doing it wrong in less places?

This should have been titled "Plusnet decide to stop making some customers pay more for no reason".

The Ofcom Wholesale Broadband Access review also says that Ofcom are planning on removing all the charge controls in the few remaining Market A areas.

Re: Plusnet on the Ball ?

Every public company is going to extract the maximum amount from their customers, it’s what the shareholders expect and your pension fund could be one of them. Fortunately the companies have competitors to check the prices and watchdogs to ensure fair play. If I or other Plusnet customers make a saving doesn’t  that  “look good” ?

Re: Plusnet on the Ball ?

Would Plusnet have taken any action if not for Ofcom ?
Nope as they are losing some income , but it's about time the two tier pricing was scrapped

Re: Plusnet on the Ball ?

Of course not.

How many emails from suppliers, of goods or services, do you receive with the headline : “Spectacular News, due to falling costs or better management we are able to reduce our costs to you” ?

You know full well they’ve been caught out for malpractice and are forced to adjust accordingly.

Re: Plusnet on the Ball ?

A sizeable portion of Plusnet’s broadband ISP subscriber base has recently been informed that they will benefit from a good reduction in the price of their service.

I guess that means I'm not one of the lucky ones then.Cry

Re: Plusnet on the Ball ?

Hate to put a damper on it, but when I read low cost area I think of prices going up in high cost areas. Cynical I know but like those sale prices are in place to justify it sometimes seems to me the higher ones.

Maybe I just find it impossible to trust any business practice as so often it's give into one hand whilst taking from the other while you are distracted. Wink

I know where I am, I've been lost here before.

Re: Plusnet on the Ball ?

I suppose this is another reason for my "tiny" 10% increase in broadband charges.

Plusnet spreading the goodness around.

Re: Plusnet on the Ball ?

My parents are with Plusnet on the Auchtermuchty exchange, it's currently a Market A exchange.

How can I find out which exchanges Plusnet are reclassifying as Market B (Low Cost)? Obviously I'm wondering if Auchtermuchty is one of them.

Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks
