Please sign our e-petition!

National charity Lyme Disease Action is campaigning for better awareness, recognition and treatment of Lyme disease in the UK. We have recently started a number 10 e-petition calling for UK specific guidleines to be introduced. At the moment the only guidelines used in the UK are USA specific ones that have been widely criticised by patients and doctors as ultra-conservative, based on evidence carefully selected to support the authors blinkered views.
There is an urgent need for guidelines that are based on the full range of scientific evidence, and are aimed at the UK and Europe.
Lyme disease is a nasty (trust me Sad) bacterial infection spread by tick bites. It is much more common than is officially recognised, and most doctors don't know how to diagnose or treat it. See here for more information.
Thankyou for your indulgence, now go and sign!

Ticks are hugely unpleasant things to have to deal with, let alone Lyme Disease. I don't know how effective 'e-petitions' are (this government seems to do what it likes regardless of how many people sign such petitions) but anything that increases overall awareness of this particular issue has to be a good thing. Will be forwarding on details of the petition and the LDA site to friends.

Penny.

Re: Please sign our e-petition!

Thankyou, Penny Kiss
It is only a small part of our campaign, and we don't expect it to change the world on its own, as it is easy for them to fob us off with the usual drivel that everything is OK as it is. See the response to the last e-petition. However, it does add something to our efforts to raise awareness of Lyme. We are doing a lot more besides - giving information to anyone who asks, publishing information leaflets etc, and we have good support from a small but growing number of MPs.
