This time it was an attack on E-side cables on my exchange feeding mine and a large number of other houses. There must be multiple E-sides being used per cabinet as certain groups of properties within a single PCP cabinet were still operational while those affected covered almost the entire exchange area in one direction - ie the problem was on multiple different PCP's. So that was no phone or internet locally for the last full week. Also affected autodialling burglar alarms of course All now seems to be OK and the internet even works and I have the right number! I await to see whether I notice any difference in my broadband performance. BT were working full time including the weekend fixing it. They had two large vans (mobile office/workshop I'd guess) at each end of the 'problem'. So that will be quite a cost in terms of manpower/ time and materials for BT. So the next time someone on the main thread is ranting about why their ADSL2+ upgrade or Fibre cabinet has been put back and why it's all BT's fault......point them in the direction of this thread and remind them that the cause of the delays might well be the behaviour of their fellow citizens. Now to deal with the accumulated emails...sigh.
