Petrol Tax

At midnight there is 2p a litre being put on fuel tax.  It is the tax that was delayed earlier in the year.  The forecast is that a litre of unleaded will cost 110p in the near future (currently 104p in my area)  Isn't it ridiculous to impose this tax whilst the country is still in recession?

Re: Petrol Tax

I see predictions of 120p/litre by the end of the year together with a return to 17.5% VAT on top. Some say that VAT will have to go up again to 25% later and goodness knows what else! The green shoots look as though they will have problems in getting any bigger.

Re: Petrol Tax

102p for both petrol and diesel around here. Goodness knows how the treasury think -
and of course there is a simple way to reduce your fuel consumption.
Just slow down a few mph, and learn to use the right foot a little more gently.
I've seen reprts that the average speed of traffic has reduced somewhat in the last few months - presumably because many drivers are learning to drive more economically.
