Petrol Prices

If the OFT are looking into fuel pricing then maybe the fuel supply chain is increasing their prices in anticipation of a 'request' to reduce them?

Re: Fuel Prices

Gawd I wish it was that price round here, currently cheapest is £1.41/l for diesel. (up to £1.45 at local garages,or £silly at a lone pump operation), went up 2p/l last week.

Re: Petrol Prices

Sorry I should have made clearer which fuel I was referring to.
I have changed the title accordingly and yes diesel prices around Sheffield are 5p to 6p higher than petrol prices.

Re: Petrol Prices

1.38/litre pump price here in London and 10p off per litre at Sainsbury's = 1.28/Litre.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Re: Petrol Prices

One thing I've noticed is that unleaded is 3p a litre cheaper, than here, when we go to Huddersfield.
Prices have certainly shot up recently - sure it was 138.9 in Tesco yesterday  Cry

Re: Petrol Prices

Remember the time when Diesel was a lot cheaper than Petrol and people were encouraged to go for Diesel cars.
Taking into account how much more a diesel car costs to purchase along with the cost of Diesel I wonder how many miles you would have to travel to reach a break even point !
I Always assumed diesel cars would be cheaper to maintain than a petrol car and this was true for the first diesel I owned (VW) but the second one was a nightmare (Ford Focus) so I'm now back to a petrol car.

Should have bought a Skoda, (Diesel ) instead of a Ford....
Mine is now on 182,000 and still getting 66mpg on various types of motoring.. (rated by Parkers Car Guide at 56 mpg ) . apart from the "usual" maint cost... pads, shoes, tyres, the only major expenses I have had since I bought it 8 years ago, is a complete clutch at 165,000 and last week a water pump... both cost less than £250 incl hire car and fitting... and a couple of wheel bearings....
Doing the "obvious" checks before a MOT and replacing bulbs and wiper blades etc. the car passes first time. still on the same exhaust system, and no welding has been done on it....

Re: Petrol Prices

No longer run a diesel as don't do the mileage to warrant one.
The most amazing one was my first - 1.6 Escort diesel estate that had 386,000 on clock when I part xd it. Never had head off  Smiley

Remember a car thief being asked what car was the least likely one to be nicked and he said, " a Skoda"
asked why he said "Because my mates might see me in it"
Joking apart I think they are now rated very highly since they were took over.  Smiley

Re: Petrol Prices

I have noted that petrol prices in Ukraine have more than doubled since I was last here in 2009. In fact, closer to tripled.
Currently around 10 to 12 hryvnia (currently around 12 hryvnia = £1)
Three years ago you were lucky to get 8 hryvnia to a pound.

Re: Petrol Prices

here in Florida the pump price is $3.71 per US gallon.  I get 3c a gallon discount for using a fuel card issued by the filling station.

Re: Petrol Prices

That`s about £2.28 at present exch rate (  http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert/?Amount=3.71&From=USD&To=GBP ; )
and the US gallon is larger than the UK gallon  ( 1UK gal = 1.20US gal ) (  http://www.metric-conversions.org/volume/uk-gallons-to-us-liquid-gallons.htm )
