A small independent garage ( two petrol stations )... is showing Diesel cheaper than ASDA.. And also another single independent station ( Hayling Service Station)...

Re: Petrol Price war ?

lots, another huge problem though is often that the prices will rise but not fall when the supply price falls, I think it was Q8 or jet that used to buy in the petrol 10p per litre cheaper than they sold it at the pump yet the tax man still got the same amount, so the franchise holders were getting up to 10p per litre profit, but they would keep the same fixed price for 6 months and absorb any minor fluctuations from the profit margin, so they were often a lot cheaper than some of the main garages like BP shell or esso, but that was back when oil was 70 dollars a barrel at a high point and averaged about $50 a barrel, a lot of those smaller franchised based companies went out of business once the prices went over $95 a barrel for crude, makes you wonder though one day the price will be $140 the next it will be $120 and yet the price at the pumps remains the same.....
just because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you

Re: Petrol Price war ?

ASDA normally has the cheapest petrol locally (is 14 miles away still local?)
Currently 124.7p petrol and £128.7p diesel.
Wish they'd get rid of these dopey decimal point prices!

Re: Petrol Price war ?

Yeah,... I agree.. dopey decimal point pricing.... I cannot believe that they actually work it out to that price... more a "fixation" with the old £1/19/11d to make something look  "less expensive" rather than £2/0/0d  ( is that really how we used to price things? or was it £1-19-11d  ? ? ?  )
Asda has developed the .7 on their price so that they can compete (?) or "brag" that their fuel prices are cheaper than "him down the road" at .9 ..... as if that makes a difference  Grin Grin Grin
