Trump should be welcomed to the UK. He is President of the USA and we may need his help and support as we get into Brexit talks.

Although I am in severe disagreement with referendums being other than advisory in a representative democracy. I do not want to ban them. In such the voter has been registered on a voters roll, is identified, so unless he cheats by personation( a crime) he can only vote once.
However, how can one be certain of that with on line petitions? Dynamic IPs, use of different apparatus to vote are examples of the way to cheating.

What crazy logic, stop somebody coming in...... because they are stopping others coming in!
The guy is not exactly my cup of tea and that's putting it mildly but he's the democratically elected President of the US and we should respect that and not the man.
Anybody remember the protests when the million dollar birthday party man Robert Mugabe swanned down the Mall alongside the Queen. Me neither.
Hypocrisy or what?

Are you suggesting that just because we as a nation made a grave mistake in the Mugabe case it's OK to do the same again? I'd suggest that the lesson it taught was we need to be far more careful to whom we grant the honour of a state visit. Just because it is usual to have state visits for American Presidents doesn't justify inviting one whose core values are totally at odds with British values.

Something else to consider putting your name to:
https://secure.avaaz.org/campaign/en/president_trump_letter_loc/?cvjSBlb
Dear Mr. Trump,
This is not what greatness looks like.
The world rejects your fear, hate-mongering, and bigotry. We reject your support for torture, your calls for murdering civilians, and your general encouragement of violence. We reject your denigration of women, Muslims, Mexicans, and millions of others who don’t look like you, talk like you, or pray to the same god as you.
Facing your fear we choose compassion. Hearing your despair we choose hope. Seeing your ignorance we choose understanding.
As citizens of the world, we stand united against your brand of division.
Sincerely,
3,345,914 signatures just now.

Indeed, by why pick on Trump?
Happy to list a whole host of people far worse than him who have infected this island of ours. This is just knee jerk nonsense as far as I am concerned.
Wake up and smell the coffee guys.

"As citizens of the world......"
Three million out of seven billion and you claim to represent us all?
I don't think so.

The government have, quite rightly rejected the proposal in this petition.
The state visit will go ahead

Because he is in a position of great influence, far greater than the likes of Mugabe etc., and because of that he holds the potential to do enormous damage. Add to that the fact that he has no diplomatic expertise at all. He doesn't seem to have the capability to think things through logically or politically. To give him credence is to give him support. He should be criticised every step of the way, whether or not he is a democratically elected leader. That does not exempt anyone from being subject to rigorous scrutiny.

I very much doubt that he will be able to offer anything. Once Mr. Drumph (real name, grandfather was a German immigrant) has finished pulling up the drawbridge and pruning the US workforce of non-US-born labour, it will take decades to rebuild US manufacturing to the ideal which he apparently wants. US manufacturing currently relies heavily on migrant labour, whether it be illegal or legal, and also relies heavily on exports to Mexico. Yet another set of facts and consequences he seems not to have taken on board.
It's all show by the showman!

Hardly matters what the figure reaches, it's been rejected, end of.
Not the highest figure for a petition....I think that went to those who wanted a second referrendum.......also rejected.

Fine, may I suggest you add Putin but beware, as lists have a nasty habit of getting longer.
Leave Trump with enough rope and he'll do the business, no worries

Trump is an absolute idiot for wanting this visit.
The photographs and news reports that will go back to America will all be about the 100,000's protesting. Unless they change the normal routine he will meet The Queen and Prince Charles. It doesn't take much imagination to picture the main topic Charles will want to talk about!
