@rongtw

Are you sure this is not a hoax ?

under what circumstances can you be charged over £ 300 for a phone call unless you are on the phone for ages.

Re: Parcel scam

Well there must be a list showing the sum of money charged for using a specific number ? If not then you could charge a million pounds for a one minute call,

Equally most calls come through BT what would it do to their reputation if someone was charged over £300 for a single short call ? Look good on BT if the case went to court.

So I ask again are you sure it's not a hoax ?

Re: Parcel scam

It's hoax that has been around for a few years.

However I think posts of this sort are good reminders for all that there are some very wicked people out there.

Re: Parcel scam

I know there are, or at least used to be, numbers that charge £5 as soon as you get through.  I'm pretty sure I saw one used to provide books accompanying a TV series once.  Nowadays we have invitations to text "Save Africa" or whatever and a fiver is added to your mobile phone bill.

Before mobile phones there was a scam where someone would set up a premium rate line and knock on someone's door saying their car had broken down and could they use their phone to call the AA/RAC.  They would then dial their premium rate number and leave the helpful stranger with the bill.

There have always been evil people around since the beginning of civilisation, are they any worse today than at any time in the past ?
