Re: Oxford-Astra Zeneca

My OH had to travel 26 miles for his in Grantham. I asked if he could go to Boston as the new hub had opened and it was half that distance but was told no.

Speaking to an NHS worked last week I said OH had his jab at Grantham and he said 'I had mine the same day at Boston', Oh said I, that where you live 'No' he said, I live in Grantham!

So between us we travelled about 124 miles and could have reduced that to around 24.

Re: Oxford-Astra Zeneca

Well that's done. A shuffling queue outside the back entrance to my doctors surgery. Jab and out through the front entrance.

All very quick. Given a little card with my name on and Oxford-Astra Zeneca noted with the next jab appointment already on it.

Seems different to the flu jab as they filled a regular hypo from a little bottle. So more injection that you feel rather than flu jab which you don't.

And as I remembered reading about production held up due to lack of little bottles I asked what happens to the empties. All just dumped which seems a bit of a waste.

Re: Oxford-Astra Zeneca

Odd that some people are being given cards with the date of the second vaccination, we got nothing so assume it will be a phone call again.

Out of interest of those who have cards with the next date on, how much of a gap between first and second ?

No second date on mine so it's wait and see I guess.

If you've given the correct dates @HelloDuck, that's not eleven weeks!  Wink

Re: Oxford-Astra Zeneca

If I get knocked over by a bus tomorrow or trampled by a horse, will Covid get the blame or are we now immune?

Asking for a friend I met in that queue.

Re: Oxford-Astra Zeneca

OH was given his second jab date 11 weeks. I've heard it's only the hubs that give a second date not Doctors.

Although I got given a card (with details of when and what I had) the 2nd appointment was put on a slip of paper. 12 weeks between the two. Seems we've started on the 65 and over group now. I was surprised how easy it was to get an appointment as well. Got a text from my GP surgery at 3pm and had the jab at the hospital the next day at 8.40am.

Edit: Forgot to mention it was the Pfizer jab.

Ever helpful. Grin Sure, I’d love to help you out. Now which way did you come in?

Re: Oxford-Astra Zeneca

Had my first dose of Astra Zeneca this morning. 😎

In and out in less than 10 minutes and almost painless.

My flu jab a couple of weeks ago was painless.

Didn’t book my first one on line or by the phone number shown in the letter that arrived 2 days after I had been given the vaccination.

So wiser to do nothing and wait for them to phone me again in case it causes problems.

I only travelled a couple of miles to a local hub, a neighbour who booked using the phone number in his letter had to travel 7 miles to a hub.

@everyoneelse

Thanks for the feedback on time between first and second vaccination.

That’s because you feel more pain as you get older.
