Ospreys are fantastic birds. Saw one swoop down and take a salmon or sea trout when I was fishing the River Spey. Highlight of the holiday.

Invasion of privacy. These birds come from southern Europe to help us out and what do we do? We spy on their most intimate moments without even putting up "CCTV in use" or "This mountain is monitored by CCTV" signs. I'm sure the avian equivalent of the EU will be up in arms about this; we may even find that our hens stop laying eggs in protest, which is the last thing we need at the moment.
If you want to get away from slow TV, I understand all England games plus the final of Euro 96 are to be rerun on ITV4.

That's why they are on ITV4, it's a secret.

A couple of days ago I saw Mrs Osprey sitting on the eggs while Mr Osprey flew off and came back at intervals.
At least that's what I assumed - but then they changed places, so it seems that ospreys have achieved gender equality. 👍

The female is larger than the male so no surprise they have equality.

First chick has started hatching today. If you can get back to around 11.55am, you will be able to see the little beak 😀

At 18.55 you can see the chick being fed. Quite engaging really.
