One in Five Children Aged 12-15 Can Disable UK Internet Filters or Controls

Quote
Ofcom has today published a new report for the Government that benchmarks the take-up, awareness and confidence of parents and children in relation to the use of online Parental Controls, such as the network-level Internet filters now being adopted by all of the major broadband ISPs. The results make for an interesting read.

I wish this could just be left alone, and let the ignorant parents can continue sticking their fingers in their ears going la-la-la pretending it all works doing their parenting for them.
All this will do is re-ignite the hysteria that "something has to be done to protect the children", and it won't end well for anybody.

oh I don't know mobile systems might actually start to comply with the need for it instead of freely supplying the ability to subvert filters

so 12-15 year old kids are watching porn or viewing sites they shouldn't?
Methinks a few heads will roll for this.

Only 20% can work out how to bypass basic internet blocks, what's this country's education system coming to?

I bet the real figures are closer to 1 in a hundred can actually do it on their own, the rest are just clever enough to know what website to look on to find out how its done ....

Don't most kids have a sneaky look at porn at that age?
I remember my 'mate' getting caught passing a Razzle under the desk when 'he' was 13... the English teacher looked so shocked!
On a serious note, it's the parents job to bring up their kids properly and nobody elses.

It should also be the schools job to punish naughty kids whilst they are in school
In my day we had the discipline in schools IE: the dap, cane etc
6 of the best on each hand from the headmaster in front of my parents & then laughing at every swish that landed, never did me any harm, also never stopped me being mischievous (go figure)

For the record I still don't look at porn now even though I'm well over 18, only desperate sad people do that.... Although I did once Google Marge Simpson Playboy pics, very clean.

"Health and Efficiency" smuggled into a barn at age 9, if I recollect correctly, was my equivalent of the Internet.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.
