One for the photographer. (Nikon)

I've been given a Nikon CoolPix P150 however it's not being recognised when I plug it into my Mac (Catalina v10.15.7). I've installed the various software offerings provided by Nikon but none of them (ViewNX-i and Capture NX) recognise that the camera's connected via it's USB cable.

Any thoughts from those in the know?

I’m a Canon user so not much help, but I wonder why you want to connect it to a computer.

To get the pictures off of the Memory Card as it's easier this way and I don't have to remove the tripod lock.

Re: One for the photographer. (Nikon)

@Mook does the camera have any settings for the USB protcol e.g PTP/MTP/MSC ?

This might help explain https://www.nikonimgsupport.com/na/NSG_article?articleNo=000025693&configured=1&lang=en_SG

Re: One for the photographer. (Nikon)

I couldn't see anything relating to USB settings in the camera @MisterW but a bit more searching and I found that I can load the images using Launchpad > Other > Image Capture.

As noted above, Image Capture knows the camera's connected but oddly enough the USB storage doesn't appear as mountable volume @dvorak which is odd.

Re: One for the photographer. (Nikon)

Sounds like the Nikon is set for PTP (Picture transfer protocol)  rather than MSC (Mass storage)

That makes perfect sense.
