On a lighter note

On a lighter note, mushy peas with Fish and Chips - yes of no.

Never a 'sarf London' thing back in my day, but maybe up north and elsewhere?

Mushy peas and Tripe perhaps? 🤔

And there's me thinking it would be pictures of nice fluffy clouds and a bit of sun. 😂

Re: On a lighter note

The only time I drink tea is with fish and chips. Can't abide it otherwise.

Mushy peas? take 'em or leave 'em

Re: On a lighter note

Ordering a fish dish in a gastropub many years ago I thought I'd be sophisticated and asked for an hors d'oeuvre appetiser.

Must have mis-pronounced it, as I ended up with the main dish accompanied by horseradish, and a sideways look from the waiter.

It actually tasted very good, and I've liked horseradish ever since.

Re: On a lighter note

When I moved from the East coast to the South Coast I just couldn't believe the chippies didn't do mushy peas, just garden peas in a tub. I almost backtracked.

Re: On a lighter note

Take 'em or leave 'em is the only good thing about getting those mushy peas in a little pot @Mayfly

What's that all about these days, even chips have started turning up in those little bucket things now!

Mind you, Mrs Minivanman has now started serving shaped rice. 🙂

Re: On a lighter note

I don't eat the skin of the fish but it's like jacket potatoes, I don't eat the skin of the potato but many people do.

I've seen people eat an entire apple, core and all. I don't eat the core.

Re: On a lighter note

Definitely, fish-skin get's a big NO from me.

Edit:  added word in italics, as potato or apple skins are OK for me
